I want to talk about her for a second.
She had just had a baby. She was tired in that deep, cellular kind of way that only new mothers know. And she was sitting in that hospital bed holding her newborn, looking down at this little person she had just brought into the world, and she was absolutely radiant.
Not because she had done anything to get ready. Not because the lighting was perfect or the room was styled. She was radiant because of what she had just done, and because of who she already was as a mother. I see it every single time I walk into a hospital room for a Fresh 48 photography session, and I’ll never get over it.

This is why I love being a Fresh 48 Photographer.
Not for the pretty details (though they are there). Not for the perfectly swaddled baby or the soft window light. I do it because of moments exactly like this one at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa, where a mama looks down at her baby and the whole room shifts.
If you have been on the fence about booking a Fresh 48 photographer because you think you need to feel put together or camera ready, I want you to hear me on this: you will never look more like yourself than you do in those first hours. That is not a consolation. That is the whole point.

You are not performing for me. You are just living in one of the biggest moments of your life and I am quietly in the corner of the room making sure it is recorded.
I photograph the way you hold your baby for the first time without thinking about how you are holding them. Then I photograph your partner leaning in close with that look on their face. I am always sure to photograph the tiny fingers curled against the swaddle and the profile of a brand new nose. An hour or so later, I walk out and you go back to just being a family, and those images exist forever.

St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital is one of my most frequent Fresh 48 locations here in Tampa and I love working there. The light is soft, the care team is wonderful, and the rooms lend themselves beautifully to this kind of quiet, documentary storytelling.
Not to mention, I gave birth to both of my babies there. It’s a very special place.

A note if you are currently pregnant and reading this:
Fresh 48 sessions book before your due date, and spots genuinely do fill up. I serve families delivering throughout Tampa, Lakeland, and all of Central Florida, and I would love for one of those spots to be yours.
I only reserve one to two Fresh 48 sessions per month because I am on call for these session types.
Reach out and let’s chat about your due date. I cannot wait to meet you.
